Sweet Home Alabama

August 14th, 2009

After a close to 17 hour drive from DC, we pulled into our new home in Alabama last Monday. We were welcomed by family with signs and banners reading “Welcome Home”! It was so great to share those moments with the people that we love the most. We unpacked the truck and by Saturday we had unpacked and put away all boxes with tons of help from the fam! Andrew immediately fell in love with his yard and it is very challenging to keep him inside. He has transitioned very well and is even sleeping in a big boy bed. To my surprise, he will stay in bed and call for me to come and get him. What a good boy!

I have found a great doctor and we are waiting for baby girl to make her arrival. I am 39 weeks today and have definitely reached the uncomfortable stage of pregnancy. Last week I had dilated to a 1 1/2 and hope that whenever I go today there will be more progress.

We are settling into our new life here but miss our DC friends dearly. It still seems a little strange that we aren’t there anymore. We enjoyed our last couple of weeks there and had some great dinners with some great people.

Haha! I was echoing Jenn’s thoughts. I told Dustin that I’ve been waiting for a blog entry, so I would check, but not getting my hopes up! We miss you too. I can’t believe what a good boy Drew is. Somehow, I’m not sure Wes will be so good when he gets his big boy bed. So nice what your family did with the “welcome” banner. We’ll be checking for baby girl pics soon.
